John 8:39-41

GOD’S WORD Translation

³⁹ The Jews replied to Jesus, “Abraham is our father.”

Jesus told them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do what Abraham did. ⁴⁰ I am a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. But now you want to kill me. Abraham wouldn’t have done that. ⁴¹ You’re doing what your father does.”

The Jews said to Jesus, “We’re not illegitimate children. God is our only Father.”
